I update this blog almost every day. It could be about anything: politics & current events, religion, work, geek-related materials. Sometimes I just post random thoughts.

FC Oshkosh

So, I have to admit that I am not the biggest fan of soccer. I was, however, excited to hear about a soccer team that has formed in the city of Oshkosh. They are FC Oshkosh. The team sports many folks from the Department of Residence Life. I think I may give soccer a try and at least be a spectator.

If you are in the area, I suggest you check out their schedule and look for some upcoming games. Many of the games are played in the Fox Valley Area. It is also cheap to be a sponsor and you get what I hear is a pretty sweet T-shirt. :)

Tomorrow's Exodus

I sit in the Webster RHD Office awaiting little yellow envelopes. These little yellow envelopes mean that residents have completed the Express Checkout process and have left the building for the year. Each envelop brings us closer to the moment when Webster Hall will be empty on Monday, May 18, 2009. It is fun to see the excitement in students who are done for the year. I share their excitement. I, too, am looking forward to being done with the year.

Tomorrow will represent the true mass exodus as at least 100 people will be moving out tomorrow!

This year's checkout is not much different than any other year. What different is that there are not additional tasks that take over when EOY stuff is over. This time last year, I was beginning to think about summer programs and even about next year. Now, when things are done, they are done! :)

Hopefully this will bring a sense of closure.

Being On Call

It had been awhile, but last night I got a call at 2:30 AM regarding a resident emergency. After making the necessary phone calls and sending out the necessary information, I got back to the apartment a little after 3:00 AM. By the time I could calm down a little bit and unwind, I got back to bed at about 4:15 AM. Working out at 7:00 AM was not so fun this morning.

Pursuing my call to ministry won't change too much in this area. I can still expect late night phone calls regarding challenging crisis situations. I will still be facing situations where I won't know the immediate solution and will need to figure out best how to handle it.

Hmm...that's really all that profound. But, it was on my mind.

Move-In Day #1

Today is Early Move-In Day here at UW Oshkosh. We have greeters, Odyssey leaders and desk workers moving. They get to avoid the rush of move-in days so that they can help us move in all of the residents of Webster Hall.

So far, everything has gone pretty well...no major issues with the move-in process. This means Jim gets to spend a lot of time in his office getting things done. :)

Other News:
  • The Badgers won today...against Akron. Seriously...they always have such a cream puff non-conference schedule. But, their Big Ten schedule is rough. They can probably use all the victories they can get!
  • The Brewers won! They are 22 games over .500. That is crazy. ESPN.com lists them as having an 89% chance of making the playoffs. Yes, these are the Brewers we are talking about.
  • ESPN does not seem to have all that much faith in the Bucks. They have them set to place 12th in the East and finish under .500.
