Well, the Packers managed to win the game last night. Although not a resounding victory, it was a victory none the less. The Packers have a few things to work on:
- Way too many penalties...the first few drives were killed by penalties. A penalty also called back a touchdown.
- Getting beaten in coverage a few times. There was a sure touchdown that a Viking wide receiver dropped that could have been a touchdown. I appreciate the desire for man to man coverage, but it leads to pass interferences penalties and getting beaten on coverage.
- Offense was a little slow. Rodgers managed the game and didn't make mistakes, but they also did not generate a whole lotta yards. Like the Superbowl, they needed a big special teams play to put it away.
On the plus side:
- Rodgers looked poised and calm in a high-stress game.
- The defense was solid overall, but was on the field way too much due to a lack of offensive production.
- The wide receivers did well and look to be in rhythm with Rodgers.
- Favre who? Just kidding...
We can enjoy the victory until Sunday. Let's hope the Packers don't have
too much trouble with the Lions.
